Snow Clearing Overview and Quiz

The purpose of this overview is to establish clear standards and expectations for snow removal services, ensuring that all team members understand what a completed job (“done”) should look like.
By defining “done,” we aim to deliver consistent, high-quality snow removal services that meet our clients’ needs and maintain our company’s reputation for excellence.
Points to clear the driveway
- Clear all space outlined in the job notes
- Push snow away from the house
- Break up ice where possible
- Clear snow up to cars and approved doorways to ensure easy access
- Be careful not to push snow onto neighbouring properties
Points to clear the walkways
- Clear walkways completely
- Clear stairs completely
- Clear landings completely
Points to access recycling and garbage
- Ensure you know where the receptacles are
- Clear a pathway to each receptacle
- Clear snow off the lids of receptacles
- Ensure snow around and below is cleared out for easy access and movability
Points for using the customers salt
- If the customer leaves out salt and we put it out for them
- You must look around quickly for the salt before leaving!
- Do not overuse salt or use it if the customer requests otherwise
- If it’s really slippery and the customer does not have salt, use the salt stored on the truck
What done looks like- Snow Removal
- Make sure the driveway is completely cleared of snow. If there are cars parked in the driveway, shovel around them without making contact with the vehicles.

- The driveway should be clear of snow and spread de-icer where applicable in case of Ice Build-ups.
- The Doorways and the landing to the front door and steps should be cleared.

- Clear the snow around the garbage and recycling bin area, including removing snow from the tops

- of the bins. Create a safe pathway for easy access to the bins.

- Clear snow from the City Sidewalk if its not already done by the city before our arrival.
